Linford Annan


Linford Annan is a developing Strength and Conditioning Coach with a strong academic foundation in Sport &Exercise Science and Strength and Conditioning. He holds CIMSPA-accredited qualifications as a Gym Instructor and Personal Trainer and is currently working towards Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist accreditation  (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

Linford’s early experience began during his third year at the University of Surrey, where he completed a 1-year placement as an Academy Athletic Performance placement student within the Athletic Performance Department at Oxford United Football Club. Since graduating in 2024 with a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science, Linford progressed through the Academy Athletic Performance Department at Oxford United Football Club, gaining valuable experience across three seasons in several roles, including Academy Athletic Development Coach, Lead YDP Athletic Performance Coach, U15/16 Sport Scientist, and Lead U15/16 Sports Scientist. Across these roles, he delivered strength & conditioning and sports science provision for academy players, supporting their physical development, performance monitoring, and long-term athletic progression.

Alongside his work at Oxford United, Linford also worked as Lead Athletic Development Coach at Velocity Football, Oxford City Football Club, where he led the S&C and Sports Science provisions across both male and female programmes. Linford is currently developing his expertise further through his MSc in Applied Strength and Conditioning at St Mary’s University, Twickenham. His research focuses on the influence of biological maturation on the development of speed, power, strength, and change of direction in tier one female PGA football players. He is also currently working with London City Lionesses as an Academy Performance Coach, leading the U12–U14 programme.

Linford’s coaching philosophy centres on delivering evidence-based, data-driven support that helps athletes develop safely, confidently, and consistently over time. With a strong focus on long-term athletic development, injury reduction, physical performance, and player education, he creates a positive and professional training environment where athletes are encouraged to improve their physical capabilities, build confidence, and maximise their sporting potential.
